Who can become a financial adviser?

No experience necessary

Think you need previous experience and skills in financial services to become an adviser? Think again.

It’s more important to us that you can say the following about yourself:

  • I’m driven, ambitious and determined
  • I’m ready to learn new skills and take exams to gain professional qualifications
  • I’m personable, outgoing, enjoy building relationships, and above all want to help others.

These are the key skills and perspectives which, in our experience, we think you need.

From all backgrounds

Financial advisers come from all backgrounds. So it’s very likely that, like the many advisers who have graduated through our Quilter Academy, you could have what it takes to build an excellent career with us. This includes whether you are:

  • Currently working in the private or public sector.
  • Returning to work after a career break, for example maternity/paternity leave.
  • Leaving the forces, professional sports, NHS, or emergency services.
  • Already working within the financial industry.

What are we looking for?

Geoff Jacobs, training and development manager, explains what the Academy is looking for within each candidate in this short video.
