Meet Genevieve

Genevieve Williams-Luckett

Job Title: Data Privacy Adviser
Year you joined Quilter:
2017
Interesting Fact about you: I’ve been a member of Southampton Rock Choir since 2014. We’ve performed at some amazing venues, and we’ve even recorded at Abbey Road Studios!

Having always worked in administrative roles and after 6 years as a Personal Assistant at Quilter, I was delighted to have the opportunity to switch to a new career path, when I retrained and became a Data Privacy Adviser. Quilter really encourages colleagues to develop and further their careers. It’s so refreshing to have an open and honest conversation with your line manager about what other roles within the business you might be able to pursue. Quilter also offers a great mentoring scheme which really helped me to reassess my goals in life and have the opportunity to talk to someone outside of my existing network about my future aspirations.

I’m extremely passionate about inclusion, diversity and colleague wellbeing and it’s really important to me to work for a company who shares the same values. Having been in a choir since 2014 I recognised the benefits that singing had had on both my mental and physical health. So, in 2018 I started running weekly singing sessions, in partnership with SingForce, who deliver singing sessions for organisations across the UK. These sessions take place in our Southampton office and are free to all colleagues as part of our wellbeing initiative called ‘Thrive’. In 2019, I created Quilter’s LGBTQ+ network, Together with Pride, allowing like-minded individuals to get together and share experiences.

I am so grateful to Quilter for actively encouraging me to pursue other internal roles and for supporting and funding these new groups. They now form an integral part of our business and a vital support network for many of our colleagues who benefit from them.

We are all unique and have our own journeys to follow. I’m following my own path in life and consider myself to be my biggest influence. Make the best of what you have and who you love. Friends, family and health come before everything else.

Enjoy what you do. Choose a role where you feel that you are growing personally and making a difference. Choose a company, like Quilter, who values you and treats you well. Make friends, work hard, but play hard too. Find that perfect work-life balance that works well for you. Stay curious and dream big.

When I first moved to Southampton in winter 2001, I remember driving past this impressive looking building with amazing Christmas decorations! I didn’t know what the company even did but I knew I wanted to work there one day. It looked powerful and commanding yet fun and inviting. First impressions always count!
