Here are the questions we get asked most often:

It takes motivation, drive, and the desire to be a successful self-employed financial adviser. You’ll be doing this for yourself, not by yourself, and we’ve created an approach that will give you everything to be successful.

Our graduates who’ve become a Quilter Financial Adviser value the freedom and control of being self-employed, safe in the knowledge they’re backed by a FTSE 250 company. Even though you’ll be self-employed, you’ll benefit from:

  • An 18-month financial support package: So you can concentrate on your qualifications and start your own business.
  • Ongoing support: Not just during your time at the academy, but also once you start your career as a financial adviser. This includes business consultancy, masterclasses, ready-to-use marketing material,, and you get access to our mentoring programme.
  • High quality new business leads: During your first year, we’ll give you new leads to help you start your business. After that, you can choose to join our affinity programme, providing you with leads through over 30 affinity firms providing access to 7 million members.

Financial advisers come from all backgrounds - it’s very likely you could have what it takes to build an excellent career with us, like the many advisers who’ve already graduated.

No prior experience in financial services or specific qualifications are required to apply. Instead, we focus on your qualities and transferable skills. The Quilter Academy is open to individuals who:

  • Are UK-based and have the right to work in the UK.
  • Are self-motivated and want to build their own successful business.
  • Have the determination and self-discipline to study.
  • Enjoy networking and engaging with new people.

We want to have an adviser population that is reflective of modern Britain. That’s why diversity is important to us, and we want to encourage more women and people from all backgrounds to become financial advisers.

You can find out more about our approach to inclusion and diversity here.

We believe the need for financial advice is only going to grow:

  • There’s an estimated 50,000 shortfall of financial advisers in the UK, meaning not everyone who needs advice can get it. (Future Financial Adviser, 2023)
  • Wealth transfers are set to grow to £100 billion in 2025, and to £355 billion by 2047, a trend which will often require financial advice. (Kings Court Trust and CEBR, 2017)
  • With women predicted to control 60% of the UK’s wealth in 2025, the need for more female advisers is now greater than ever. (Centre for Economics and Business Research, 2022)
